How to set up a local area network between 2 sets of
computers?
1.
After installing the driver for ‘ Networking’, please
re-start the 2 sets of computers. And then, connect them by
a USB Network Cable.
2.Please
kindly appoint an uniform work group for them, but different
users’ name.
3..If
want to execute the local area network, the computers should
be installed with NetBEUI Protocol. When installing
operation system Windows XP, it hasn’t attached this
protocol. So, the user should install it by hand. It lies in
installing disk L:\VALUEADD\MSFT\NET\NETBEUI.

Note: NetBEUI (NBF) doesn’t belong to a router protocol. So,
it could only be suitable for network on a small scale.
What’s more, Microsoft Windows could not support this
protocol any more. If the product supporter reminds you to
install the protocol as a temporary solution, please kindly
follow the methods below, to install NetBEUI in Windows XP
*
Please copy nbf.sys to the road: %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\
.
*
Please copy netnbf.inf to the road: %SYSTEMROOT%\INF\ .
*
Please
open “Local Area Connection Properties”, click “install”.
Then it would begin installing NetBeUI Protocol.
4.
When set up a local area network for 2 computers, Please
kindly pay attention to the operation system.
Different operation systems, the users’ name and password would
be set in different way.
(1) Windows 98SE ←→ Windows 98SE 2. Windows 98SE ←→ Windows ME 3. Windows ME ←→ Windows ME
The password would be chosen freely. When log in for the first time,
please kindly click ‘ ok’ only, not need to type password.
Also, please don’t click ‘ ESC’ to log on, or USB Network
cable could not run smoothly.
(2) Windows 98SE (or Windows ME) ←→ Windows 2000 5. Windows 98SE (or Windows ME) ←→ Windows XP
If your operation system is Windows 98SE ( or Windows ME),
and want to visit another computer with Windows 2000 (or
Windows XP), you should build for the former a visiting user
name and password in the latter, to make sure the smoothly
running of USB Network cable.
